When two become three...

I have nothing new to show you today, but I want to show this little quilt I made for some friends a few years ago. They got the quilt when they were expecting their first child. I used green because they liked green, red because of the hearts, and black because the baby-carriage was black and grey! They had been struggeling for a while to have this baby, and finally they succeeded! That's why I wanted put in a little symbolism in the quilt.
My thought was, that the two upper hearts represent the parents. The single heart below, is the child. If you take a closer look (click on the photo to enlarge it), you will see that there is a connection between the two upper hearts, and that this connection leads all the way down to the third heart. All the curves and loops represents the troubles they went through, before they had their baby. If you take another close look, you may see that I took one fabric from each of the "parent's" heart, and made the "baby's" heart!
On the back of the quilt, I added this prairie-point border that would show if they folded the quilt a little.
I am very pleased with how the quilt turned out. And our friends were happy to receive the quilt!

Take care until next time!
May Kristin

Thank you for sharing this beautiful quilt and the story behind it. I love the idea of the prairie points at the upper back and the little buttons on the side. Very clever. But most of all I think the design with the small triangles and the hearts is just perfect. Happy Easter and take care.
